Not sure what to do in Tel Aviv? Here are some great ideas for Tel Aviv activities for the whole family.

1. Tel Aviv Gardens

Tel Aviv may be known as the white city, but there is plenty of green grass and shady trees to enjoy in Tel Aviv gardens, including taking in a view of the inviting Yarkon River.  Attracting locals and visitors from all areas, you can hire a boat to spend some time unwinding on the cool and calm Yarkon River waters.

2. Tel Aviv HaYarkon Park (Ganei Yehoshua)

HaYarkon Park in Tel Aviv is enormous, boasting a thousand acres of fun and recreation. There’s room to bask in the sun, play ball, and picnic with the family without having to search for a few square feet of privacy.

You can take a kayak or paddle boat out on the lake or just relax and sail in the pleasure boat that slowly makes its way around the lake.

There’s so much to do, it’s hard to know where to get started.  Hire a regular bike or family 5-seater, visit the Zapari (bird safari), let the children climb on the wooden adventure frames, or wander over to the football and basketball courts.  There are also cycling, walking, and jogging trails for your enjoyment.

In additon to the lake, there is a selection of mini-gardens specializing in different aspects of nature: the rock garden, with large rocks from all over the country; the cactus garden with species from various countries; the tropical garden with one of the largest orchid greenhouses in Israel, as well as many other tropical plants.

3. Tel Aviv Luna Park

If you and your teenagers are interested in more action, head over to the popular Luna Park Tel Aviv, where you’ll find all the stomach-churning excitement you’d expect from an amusement park filled with rides such as the aanaconda, sky loop, and power towers. For younger children, try the gentler rides such as the carousel, bumper cars, and mini-roller coaster.

4. Tel Aviv Promenade

Another great place for a stroll, jog, or cycle is the Tel Aviv Promenade, a.k.a. the Tayelet. Stretching from the north by the newly renovated port area (the namal), right down to Jaffa’s Midron Park, the stretch has been completely recreated and transformed to a beautiful recreational park with a beach promenade, shady play areas, and lookouts over the sea.

5. Tel Aviv Parks

Also not to be missed is the Charles Clore Park with its large green lawn and play areas for children. There are special exercise and yoga decks for those who want to expend a bit more energy, and the area is well lit at night. In the height of the summer, it’s a pleasure to enjoy the promenade in the cool evening air.

What to Do in Tel Aviv: Did You Know?

As you enjoy the Tel Aviv Promendae and HaYarkon Park, try your hand at the modern environmentally friendly mode of transportation known as the Segway. After a short lesson, you’re off enjoying a stress-free, easy-going tour.
