Touring Eilat

Looking for things to do in Eilat? First, you need to know how to get around. There are several ways to tour Eilat, depending on the season. During the summer the heat is very intense and hiking is not advised. Luckily, all hotels, restaurants, public places, and buses are air conditioned. There are public buses in Eilat and there are also bus tours sponsored by travel agents. However, there are also other unique ways to get around.

Eilat Camel Treks

The Eilat Camel Ranch at Nachal Shlomo (the Shlomo River) offers  you the opportunity to travel on the “ship of the desert” – the main mode of transportation for thousands of years in arid regions. On Eilat Camel treks you can experience the silence of the desert and enjoy the ability to go places completely inaccessible by motor vehicles. However keep in mind that the sun beats down on you and there is no air-conditioning, so depending on the season you may want to opt for a sunset or early evening tour.

What to Do in Eilat: Segway Tours

The Segway, invented in 2001, is a battery powered two-wheeled scooter-like vehicle that the rider stands on. The rider’s balance is key to controlling the vehicle and when done properly, it gives a feeling of floating. Riders are required to wear a helmet.

The Segway is a great way to travel to places that are too far to walk to but would be lost when zipping by on a bus. Segway guided tours are suitable for people age 16 and over and include the Eilat Promenade, Kibbutz Eilat, and an exclusive Eilat night tour. To reserve, call 052-707-6779.
